Andati was speaking on K24 on Thursday in a live panel interview.

"It is an open secret that Waititu has been on a property-purchasing spree. It is an open secret. People have been asking where has he been getting the money... Waititu needs to tell us whether he has discovered an oil well or a gold mine in Kiambu, " Andati said.

He added that: "Waititu has really mismanaged Kiambu. The quality of services has really gone down. You can't compare the quality of services during Kabogo's time and during Waititu's time."

His words come in the wake of a Thursday early-morning raid by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) in which documents were taken from Governor Waititu's homes.

The Kiambu Governor has strongly rejected the corruption allegations, saying that they are being peddled by his political opponents.

Corruption continues to be a big problem in the country with governors being accused of embezzling county funds meant for development.

Waititu maintains that the wealth he has was amassed over time and not during his tenure as Governor of Kiambu County.
