Hundreds of households in Balambala are now calling on both the county and the national governments to intervene and help them by increasing water trucking services in their neighbourhood.

Speaking from Ohio village in Balambala sub-county,  Yaroy Abdullahi who is a resident, revealed that the situation was getting worse every day, adding that a section of locals has started migrating in search of the precious commodity.

“People have started migrating with their animals. Sheep and goats in some households have started dying as a result of the biting drought,” he said.

Yaroy is now appealing to the Garissa county government to intervene before it is too late.

“We are appealing to our county government to provide us with clean water. Currently, there is just single water tanker that supplies us with water but it is not enough since all the villagers,” he added.

Other hard-hit villages in Balambala sub-county include Abdigab, Hifow, Ashadin, Omar Muhumed, Bula Rig and Dujis.
