Police have launched investigations following the gruesome murder of a disabled woman in Kithiini area, Kalama location in Machakos County.
The lifeless body of the 37-year-old woman who lived alone in Kalama location was found half-naked on her bed on Wednesday morning.
According to police reports, the body of Esther Wavinya Mwathi was found by her relatives who live in the same compound. They are the ones who alerted the area chief about the incident.
Police suspect that she was raped and her clutches inserted in her private parts by the unknown assailants.
Confirming the incident, Kithiini area assistant chief Muithi Mutisya said that his office together with the police are doing their best to make sure the criminals are brought to book.
"We are helping the police in doing the investigation. And anyone involved in such a remorseless act will face the law," said Mutisya.
He urged the residents to remain calm and forward any information they may have concerning the incident.
The deceased's body was taken to Machakos Level Five mortuary for autopsy as police continue with their investigations concerning the bizarre murder.
