On Sunday, Uhuru came out guns blazing, threatening to visit the region and deal with MPs he accuses of sabotaging his development agenda.

“These “mikora” (thugs) we’ve elected and are politicking, let them not think that I am their small boy,” said Uhuru as quoted by the Standard.

“It’s just that I said that I don’t want politics, let them not think that they can threaten me. I will weed them out wherever they go,” he added.

In a lengthy post on his Facebook, Mr Ngunjiri, who has been leading an onslaught against MPs engaging in early campaigns, said the Head of State feels let down by people he supported to get to power.

"It’s because of how very disappointed he is in ‘us’. We are the ones he expected to support him and his decisions the most. We all got elected because we associated ourselves with him. He also came to the ground and campaigned for us. We even got material support from him," said Ngunjiri.

"In return, each of us stood in rallies and promised that if elected we would be his ‘jeshi’ in Parliament, and stand with him and his government at all times. However, we have become the face of open defiance and rebellion against him, and the biggest obstacle to his decisions," he added.

The first term legislator also said continued attacks by MPs from Mt Kenya targeting ODM leader Raila Odinga were open disrespect to the president given that he had reconciled with the former prime minister.

"Today most of us are the first ones to undermine his fight against corruption, claiming it was ‘political’. We are the ones most viciously attacking the ‘handshake’ project with his former rival Raila; which is weird because I thought we fought Raila because he was against Uhuru. Now Uhuru tells us the war is over but we are still fighting Raila! Who are we fighting him on behalf of," he added.
