Kisii County MP Janet Ong'era has called on police officers to arrest and prosecute men engaging in illicit sex with schools girls.
Ong'era while speaking during the marking of International Girl Child Day at Nyanchwa Girls in Kisii County said school girls must be respected to complete education.
"Police should not sleep on the job. Men chasing school girls for sex should be apprehended and arraigned in court. The increase in cases of violence against girls must stop," she noted.
She argued that in the recent past many girls have been assaulted, beaten, maimed , raped, mutilated and even murdered here in and culprits are walking free.
The lawmaker pleaded with Interior CS Fred Matiang'i to ensure security officers are working around the clock to ensure sex pests face the law.
"Cases of men giving our girls money to lure them into sex must stop and anytime parents realizes, a report should be made to police for legal actions to be taken against the offenders," she stated.
