Mandago had just driven out of Eldoret town on Friday evening when he spotted a truck that had been parked on a footpath in Action estate.

Upon enquiring why the vocal county boss learnt that the truck was off-loading hundreds of cartons of fish allegedly imported from China.

The fish was being put into a container stationed at the vehicles painting garage.

“My concern is whether these imports were cleared by relevant government authorities,” Mandago told the media.

“Also, why would food be stored in such a dirty environment, clearly how this food is handled is not good and thirdly, there’s no business permit for the store, leave alone the garage,” he added.

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Kenya Bureau of Standards (KeBS) and police officers were summoned to the scene so as to launch investigations into the matter even as it was found out that the expiry dates for the fish read May 2020, two years from the date from freezing.
