The lawmakers said that they are ready to back the proposals by the party despite residents from the region urging them to reject the same.

Led by their Deputy Speaker Farah Abdi Abdinooor, the leaders said that they are convinced that the proposals are meant for the common good of the taxpayers.

He also said that they have taken into account the concerns raised by the residents before giving the proposals a greenlight. Abdinooor also said that the leaders are ready to follow the due process to ensure that the Bill sails through.

“We had an informal sitting with Dr Aukot and together with his team, they answered all the questions that lingered leaving us satisfied. We will follow the due process in doing what is expected of us,” said Mr Abdinoor, as quoted by Daily Nation.

On his part, Mohamed Ibrahim Yusuf, assembly’s Legal and Justice Committee Chairman said that they are ready to consider the important aspects of the proposals before giving their final stand on the same. Rhamu MCA Kullow Alio Guyow also backed the proposals saying that they have been scrutinised to the latter. She went on to assure the public that their interests have also been taken into account.

The debate on proposals comes at a time when Ekuru has been faulting Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Amolo Odinga and Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru of attempting to frustrate him in his quest to change the constitution.
