Juma was among 50 Kenyan doctors sponsored by the government to Cuba where he was pursuing a Masters Degree.

He was set to fly back home before he died under unclear circumstances.

On Wednesday, Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki confirmed that the government had sent experts to Cuba to analyze the situation following uproar from the public.

The team is expected to assess the situation and document all the challenges the doctors have been facing in the foreign before action is taken.

“I have today sent a team from the ministry to carry out the assessment of the programme,” she said, as quoted by Daily Nation.

Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) wants the scheme terminated with immediate effect.

It’s Secretary-General Ouma Oluga has maintained that doctors from this nation are suffering at the hands of foreigners when the government is watching in silence.
