Nairobi Anti-Corruption court on Tuesday granted Deputy Chief Justice (DCJ) Philomena Mwilu Sh 5 Million temporary bond hours after she was arrested.

Milimani Anti-Corruption Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi bashed out at the prosecution for presenting the DCJ and her co-accused in court late.

Mugambi said that the court could not continue with the case since it was beyond working hours.

“The courts have closed, the banks have closed and we cannot continue with this case until Wednesday 9 AM,” the Magistrate ruled.The Magistrate granted Mwilu Sh5 Million temporary bond pending her plea taking on Wednesday.Mwilu was arrested on Tuesday at her Supreme Court offices by Criminal Investigation detectives.

The DCJ was arrested following orders by the Director of Public prosecutions Noordin Haji.

She is facing charges of abuse of office, unlawful failure to pay taxes, obtaining an execution of a security belonging to Imperial Bank that is now on receivership. #Hivisasaoriginal
