Kalonzo now wants Embakasi South residents to remain calm as the party contemplates on the next course of action.

The Wiper Party leader said Mawathe's election on August 8, 2017, general election was above board, adding that the High Court had indicated so when it upheld his victory in March.

"We are shocked by the Court of Appeal's ruling, but we will give directions on what happens next," Kalonzo said on Saturday as quoted by a local daily.

On Friday, Court of Appeal Judges nullified the Wiper MP's  election on grounds that it was not free and fair.

The Judges David Maraga and Mohammed Warsame ordered for fresh parliamentary election in conformity with the law.

Former ODM's Embakasi South MP Irshad Sumra had petitioned Mawathe's election claiming that it was marred with illegalities and irregularities.

Sumra now wants Embakasi South voters to get ready for a by-election.
