Zimbabwean billionaire businessman and philanthropist Strive Masiyiwa on Saturday paid a courtesy call to ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Mr Masiyiwa, who stays in London, is the executive chairman and founder of telecommunication company Econet, which has investiments across the globe.

According to Mr Odinga's aide Silas Jakakimba, the two discussed about infrastructural development status in Africa continent, which is one of fundamental pillars of African Union.

Also, Odinga, who hosted Masiyiwa at his Riat home in Kisumu, discussed with his guest about necessary steps to premier infrastructure agenda by national governments in Africa.

"This morning, ECONET Group Chairman Dr. Strive Masiyiwa,paid HE @RailaOdinga a courtesy call at his Riat Home in Kisumu. 

"The two discussed the status of Africa's Infrastructure Dev't & compared notes on necessary steps to premier infrastructure agenda by National Gov'ts in Africa," he said.

Mr Odinga was appointed Africa Union High Representative for Infrastructural Development last year after a truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Throughout his tenure in office, Odinga has been meeting infrastructural gurus in the continent in his bid to improve interconnectivity.

Energy and roads have been his major concern, with railway transport also part of the agenda. He has offices in Nairobi, Johannesburg, Cairo, Abuja and Addis Ababa.

The meeting with Masiyiwa will now draw AU to serious investiments in telecommunication industry, which is also key in infrastructure development in Africa.
