A man was forced to run for his dear life after he was caught stealing chicken.The incident happened on Tuesday night at Gesima in Nyamira County.
Confirming the incident, area assistant chief, Evans Magaki, said the man, Peter Ongworu, a school drop out sneaked into a room housing the chicken when he was caught by the owner, Fidelis Nyamora.
“Ongworu penetrated into the house of his neighbor at night after he break a window and was putting the chicken into a basket when the chicken cried prompting the owner to rush there only to find him," he said.
He said the suspect escaped through the window abandoning his shoes and coat. According to the chief, the man is being trailed to Nyamira town where he went into hiding.
He called on members of the public to cooperate to ease the arrest of the man.
"Locals must cooperate and provide information to arrest the criminal. We will not allow young people to drop school and start stealing from people," he stated.
He said school dropouts is on the rise in the area and warned parents against tolerating the trend.
