The former presidential hopeful has insisted that his party will not allow the government to realize its Thursday threat to switch off defaulters' mobile numbers.

In a tweet after the announcement was made by Communication Authority boss Francis Wangusi, Aukot said that his party will move to court against any form of coercion from the state.

Aukot whose bloc is opposed to the exercise said that such a move will be an infringement of the rights of Kenyans who do not want to be associated with the new digital system.

"We dare GoK (government of Kenya) to switch off anyone's simcard or deny them any services for failing to register for Huduma Namba. We shall proceed to court.

Public services are inherent and irrevocable rights that must be respected under the constitution of Kenya 2010. #ResistHudumaNamba," he wrote.

However, the ministry of communication has since came oy to clear the air on the issue, and immediately disowned Wangusi, saying that the exercise is a voluntary one.

Wangusi had threatened that blocked users will not be able to access mobile money services and will not be able to register new lines without Huduma Namba.
