The FKF elections are set for November with Mwendwa tipped to retain the plum seat.

Mwendwa ascended to the position after beating his predecessor Sam Nyaweya, who had a checkered stint that was marred by allegations of corruption.

Upon assumption of office, Mwendwa pledged to revolutionise the way football affairs are conducted in the country.

His stint saw a rise in sponsorship for local football teams.

He also managed to convince the national government to pump more money into Kenyan football which went along way in improving the sport.

The national football team; Harambee Stars, qualified against all odds for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2019 that was staged in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, for the first time in 15 years.

He is sure to use that AFCON qualification as an achievement to convince those eligible to vote to give him another chance, so that he can deliver on his promise to see the Stars qualify for the 2021 AFCON tourney in Cameroon.

However, challenges have still engulfed football in Kenya, with the most dire being financial constraints among several clubs after withdrawal of major sponsors from Kenya like SportPesa and Betin.
