Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) had been declared the owner of the land by the National Land Commission (NLC).

Consequently, unwilling to engage in any negotiations, including being compensated, KCAA has since moved to court seeking to have the land given back.

However, tourism firm, Priority Limited has come out to claim ownership of the land, dismissing KCAA's ownership claims, adding that it has the title for the land which was acquired legally.

In documents filed in court through its lawyer Katwa and Kemboy and Advocates, Priority Limited says that the tittle is legitimate and cannot be altered through a petition or any way.

Priority was allocated the land before transferring it to Weston and has denied KCAA's claims insisting that the land belongs to it.

In a case filed in June through its lawyers Otiende Amollo and James Orengo, KCAA claimed that any other person with a title to the land got it through fraud and corruption.

The issue has since taken a political issue, with Ruto's critics using the hotel as a punchline to accuse him of grabbing land.
