A 60-year-old woman died after she was involved in a fatal road accident.
The deceased identified as Agnes Mwakone was hit by a speeding PSV matatu registration number KCG-836F on Wednesday while crossing a road between Nyamira Cooperative Bank and Equity Bank.
Her head was seriously injured following the accident.
She was rushed to Nyamira County hospital before being referred to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.
Agnes later died on Friday evening at KTRH ICU. Enock Ondari, a doctor who was attending to her said she sustained serious head injuries.
“We tried to save her life but, in vain. She could not survive due to the serious internal head injuries she sustained during the fatal accident,” said Ondari.
The doctor also added that the deceased was also bleeding internally.
The PSV vehicle is currently being held at Nyamira police station after the driver and his conductor escaped to an unknown place after the accident. A manhunt for them has since been launched.
The deceased's body was moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
