The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader on Tuesday evening left for China where he will together with President Uhuru Kenyatta attend the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

It was earlier hinted that two leaders will be seeking for more funds to facilitate the completion of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) that will see it extend from Naivasha to Odinga's home city, Kisumu.

Taking it to Facebook, Odinga stated that he will be joining other world leaders where matters of economic development will be discussed in the forum which is set to be held between April 24 and April 27.

"Departing for China to attend the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation where I shall make the case for synergies in infrastructure planning and development by embracing international standards, fostering a favourable environment and predictability for private sector investment in infrastructure," he posted.

Raila's China visit has been received differently by Kenyans. While others are wishing his journey mercies on his way, others are questioning how he suddenly changed tune over Chinese loans.

Here are some of the reactions recorded from Facebook.

Richardmichael Mwai asked: "How long will the two Kenyan presidents be away?"

Frederick Otaa said: "Exactly that Baba....As they say, Luos don't borrow loan but they attend to second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation."

Justine Kibet Lokomol said: "China will not agree to offer more loans especially when it understands that the loan is used to extent a project which will be destroyed after elections."

Noah Andati said: "Safe flight Tinga. Wakienda China tunaenda. We are completing the journey with Uhuru. I hope you and Uhuru have kept the title deed of this country safely as you fly out."
