Kombewa Sub-County Hospital on Tuesday set the unprecedented record as was witnessed by area Governor Anyang Nyongo.

Nyong'o who earlier commissioned the health facility was lucky enough to witness the entire process of delivery, he revealed.

In a tweet after the achievement, the county boss took pride in the big and successful strides the county is taking toward medical security.

He added that his administration has also delivered sufficient manpower and machinery to make such deliveries a success in some of the remaining health facilities across the county.

These include the Ahero and Muhoroni Hospitals which he said ow have the ability to conduct such medical processes.

"Kombewa Sub County Hospital breaks history in Kisumu County by performing the first caesarean section.

I am happy to have commissioned the maternity theatre and witnessed the whole process. Muhoroni and Ahero hospitals can now perform the same," he wrote.

This comes as a relief to the overcrowded Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) which was until recently the only hope for county residents.

The Governor is a former Health Cabinet Minister, a position he held between 2008 and 2013 during the Grand Coalition Government.
