The Head of State gave out the order on Tuesday while speaking during the 2018 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) conference at the Strathmore University.

"I have been told about the imported fish from China. It is not possible that we import Chinese fish when our local traders are here," said the President.

His directive seems to have received a massive support in the Lake side County. Here are some reactions;

“I fully support the President. Chinese fish has low nutritional value compared to our fish from Lake Victoria,” claimed Angela Awuor.

“Yes I support the ban. Where do our local fishermen sell their fish if our market is flooded with China fish? posed Julia Adhiambo.

Maria Awino, a fish monger in Kisumu said that she does not care about the President’s directive.

“I sell original fish. I have never seen Chinese fish,” she said.

Tony Okoth, a Tuk Tuk operator said the ban of China fish will affect his business.

He said after arrival in Kisumu, he transports the fish to various estates in the City, hence his decision not to welcome the ban.

“I am a transporter and the ban will most definitely affect me,” he said grudgingly.
