The rain which disrupted businesses poured for almost two hours.

"It always rains in the evening but this time it was extremely heavy and accompanied by ice. It not only forced us to close early but also caused us a loss as we lost some of our goods," James Karanja, a Jua Kali businessman at Huruma estate stated.

The most affected part was Eldoret West where there was a market day. Most of the roadside traders were forced to close early and head back home with their goods.

"I usually make a good profit from selling second-hand clothes but today I did not sell even half of what I usually sell. The heavy rain affected us a lot," Joseph Kiprop, a businessman at Eldoret West Market lamented.

The rainwater flooded a lot of shops and swept away goods which had been put out in the open for sale.

Ice had been spread out in a better part of Huruma estate after the rain paused.

Business people in Eldoret are hoping the rains would stop soon so that things go back to normalcy.
