63 MCAs voted in support of the impeachment of the governor with only 1 voting against the motion.

However, Waititu through a phone call to Kenyans.co.ke, said the MCAs did not meet a threshold to impeach him.

He further blamed his political competitors, especially his deputy, James Nyoro, for the same, adding that he will be heading to the court as his next move.

"They did not meet the threshold. It is all fixed and I will not let them have their way. If you saw what was happening, you understand that it is pure lies," Waititu said as quoted by Kenyans.

"It was orchestrated by my deputy James Nyoro and my opponents and I will face them in court," he added.

Waititu's impeachment motion was tabled by Ndenderu MCA Solomon Kinuthia, who had listed a number of reasons, including gross misconduct and abuse of office.

The county boss is currently facing corruption charges of over Sh588 million for irregular procurement for a road tender.

The MCAs accused Waititu of favoring his close family and friends in tender awarding.

He was then barred from his office, and since then, his deputy has been running the county.

This further escalated their political differences.
