Emerging details indicate that visiting retired United States President Barrack Obama has given a wide range of promises to the Kenyan community in his visit of Kogelo.

Obama who landed in the nation on Sunday, visited his grandmother Sarah Obama early Monday, in an invite only event that saw the media locked out and only accredited people allowed in.

According to Luo Council of Elders member Dorothy Awino, who was part of the delegation that met the ex-Potus at the premises, he promised to empower the community in any way possible.

Obama promised to lend a hand in empowering the community and the larger nation, vowing to among others facilitate trade betterment via directing his business links to Kenya.

"He said that he means good for the nation, adding that many more is set for the country apart from what is already visible. He promised to also connect us to his contacts who are involved in businesses," she told Citizen TV.

"He also stressed on the need for the youth to be given more consideration and above all, he was very humble," she added.

She, however, noted that no one is privy to the details of Obama's meeting with his grandmother, noting that the two were given space to speak privately in line with the Luo culture.

"We are not aware about his meeting with Mama Sarah as according to our culture that is a very intimate conversation and the two must be given space to speak in private," she added.

Obama is in the nation for the launch of his elder sister Auma Obama's Sauti Kuu initiative before leaving for South Africa later in the day.
