For days on end, blogs have been roiling with rumours that the Secretary-General of the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Francis Atwoli is in a romantic relationship with KTN's Swahili anchor Mary Kilobi.
The rumours started spreading after a Bungoma politician Jack Wanami Wamboka fired at the COTU supremo for allegedly snatching his wife.
To set the record straight and check the spread of untruths, Mary Kilobi weighed in on the rumoured affair.
The two met about thirteen years ago when she was doing an internship with the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation and Atwoli was smitten.
They exchanged contacts and promised to stay in touch.
Being a straight-shooting man, Atwoli proposed but Kilobi was hesitant given their age difference.
Her hesitation did not kill the resolve of the outspoken trade unionist, which finally paid off.
"I have never come across a man who fears and loves God like him," Kilobi says of him.
With her intervention, the affair is no longer a matter of public conjecture but a fact.
