Speaking at his office after hosting a delegation of World Bank, the second term county boss, who also doubles as Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement Leader, said time has come for leaders to ensure speedy project implementation if they want to avoid loss of funds through runaway graft.

He noted that many projecta have stalled because of the misuse of funds meant for the same. He faulted contractors who take too long to complete some projects thus giving room for the corrupt government officials to take advantage of the same to walk away with a junk of the funding.

"The reason projects cost double or triple is because they take forever to be completed. The biggest challenge of implementation of projects in Kenya is the speed at which they are undertaken," said Mutua, as quoted by Standard.

The governor, who has hinted at contesting for the nation’s top post in 2022, challenged other leaders from different parts of the nation to embrace the slogan Chap Chap to ensure projects are complete on time.

Mutua, who has been vocal on lifestyle audit, further said leaders need to go an extra mile to ensure the electorate benefits from their policies before they complete their terms in office.
