Speaking on Thursday during the News Gang show on Citizen TV,  Okwara said Kenyans are broke because the national and county governments owe suppliers money.

She further noted that Kenyans did not have money to spend because Uhuru's government had over-borrowed domestically, locking out SMEs.

"Mr President we are broke because your government owes suppliers 300 billion shillings. Your audit settled this outstanding bills in June this year only resulted in a paltry 10 billion shillings being released. County governments owe another 98 billion shillings to suppliers. That is why you in fact reportedly ordered 34 billion to be released at this meeting," she said.

"Mr President were are broke because your executive is crowding out SMEs by borrowing heavily in the domestic market, thus squeezing them out and forcing many of them into hard times if not completely out of business,"she added.

Without mincing her words, Okwara blamed the dire situation the country was in, on the policies of the Uhuru-led administration.

She appeared to suggest that the government was out of touch with the harsh realities that Kenyans were struggling with.
