Last month, the Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen linked Raila to the evictions which almost threatened unity within Jubilee party.

"Raila is hiding in the handshake to flush out our people in Mau. We will not sit back and watch," he said.

What followed was a series of attacked targeting Murkomen and DP Ruto as ODM legislators defended the former PM.

And at Kericho during the burial of Eng. Joseph Chepkuony, Raila fires back at Murkomen, accusing him of erroneously dragging him to the debate.

“He went there to try to whip emotions by trying to mudsling me over the current forest evictions but who doesn’t know that I am no longer a Prime Minister and the evictions are being done by other people now in government,” he said.

The ODM leader further blamed those who sold land past the government cut line, which has led to eviction of more than 7,000 families.

“For those who crossed the cutline, the blame lies with those who sold them the pieces of land and they must be taken to account,” he said.

In June, DP William Ruto announced the government's plans to evacuate settlers from the water catchment area.

The government has vowed to continue with the exercise despite the outcry from Rift Valley politicians.
