Just a few days after celebrated radio presenter and comedian Felix Odiwour alias Jalang'o resigned from Royal Media's Hot 96 for Milele Fm, Radio Maisha's Alex Mwakideu also quit.

The last two months have seen big brands in the media industry going head-to-head on a poaching spree.

Milele FM, in particular, has been looking to grow its presence on radio. It has so far poached the big minds on Kenyan radio scene. Some of the big names that were absorbed by the radio station include Francis Luchivya, Joyce Wageturo, Wilbroda and just recently, Jalang'o.

At one point Radio Maisha's breakfast show, Maisha Asubuhi, hosted by Alex Mwakideu and Jalang'o was declared the most listened to breakfast show in Kenya.

The two had the best chemistry on air. They show made Radio Maisha rise to be the second most popular radio station after radio Citizen.

Earlier in the month, Jalang'o quit Hot 96 for Milele FM shortly after the station had poached him from Radio Maisha.

Anybody who knows Jalang'o will tell you money could not have been enough to make him sign Milele FM's deal. So what could have made him quit Hot 96 for Milele?

Was it because he was going to reunite with a long-term friend and his most favorite co-host?

Though Mwakideu has not yet announced where he will be headed to next, it is so obvious that he is going to Milele FM. This is going by the fact that all the big media companies in the country are fighting to grow their presence except Milele FM.

Milele is the only radio station that has gone for a poaching spree. This might be a smart move especially because the radio industry seems to have been forgotten.

For instance, whereas Royal Media Service is so focused to grow Citizen TV by poaching the who-is-who from KTN and NTV, it has forgotten Radio Citizen, and that's why Milele FM used that pothole to poach Wilbroda, Luchvya and other big names.

With the current media transfer window, all we can do is to wait, watch and see what happens next.
