The deceased's father Charles Kinyamaa claimed the family was not informed on the court where the case will be heard and determined.

Kinyamaa addressed the press outside Kangundo Law Courts on Wednesday.

He said they thought the case would be in Kangundo Law Courts since the crime was committed in the area.

"I came to Kangundo Law Courts early in the morning hoping the case would be undertaken there. To my surprise, we were told it's in Machakos Law Courts. Machakos is far, we can't afford to travel every time the case is in session," Kinyamaa said.

Kinyamaa urged the police to conduct investigations into the incident and get watertight evidence that will ensure justice is served to the deceased's family.

The suspect Evans Kasyoki appeared in a Machakos Law Court on Wednesday but did not take a plea.

Kasyoka is accused of involvement in the murder of his nephew Erick Makau in March 2014.

He appeared before Resident Magistrate K. Kemei.

The judge directed that the suspect be taken to Mathari Mental Hospital for a mental examination before taking the plea on September 17, 2018.

He has been remanded at the Machakos G.K Prison.
