This is according to Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali.

Speaking at a press conference, the MP accused Kidero of bringing down Mumias Sugar Company and destroying livelihoods that relied on its economy.

He said that all stakeholders in the region were now calling upon the DPP to arrest and prosecute Kidero.

"The people and farmers of Mumias Sugar, Kakamega county and all stakeholders that entirely rely on this company demand that the DPP arrests and prosecutes Evans Kidero and his team of criminals forthwith; that all companies associated with this theft must be named publicly; and that the directors (be) arrested in the next 48 hours," said Washiali.

Also to add voice onto the outcry was Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya who lamented that theft in major companies had left majority of the county-based firms under receivership, a sign of worse times ahead.
