More than 500 people on Sunday flocked to Lenana Road Woodlands Junction, where the new restaurant is located, to enjoy the unique meals.

The outlet will specialise in Lebanese and Yemeni cuisine, serving four different types of rice with fish, chicken and mutton.

“It is the only place in Kenya that will be serving original authentic Arabian cuisine,” said Rodgers Sigei, the head of the service.

Former Garissa Governor Nadhif Jama, former Mandera Senator Mahmood Maalim and President Uhuru Kenyatta’s personal lawyer, Ahmednasir Abdullahi, were among those who attended the opening.

Mr Abdullahi said the atmosphere at the restaurant was “great” and the food was “amazing”

Area MP Arati, who is widely expected to run for the Kisii gubernatorial seat in 2022, lauded the initiative, saying it will create jobs for the local people. He promised to protect the restaurant against harassment by county government officials.

The restaurant’s owner, Abdirahman Kahar, said he plans to open the next branch in Mombasa
