Speaking when he met with residents on Monday, the MCA said that there is a need for immediate intervention as the issue is getting out of hand.

"This issue is serious and even requires the attention of the IG. Our people are being attacked almost daily and their businesses are not safe anymore," said Nyanzi.

He noted that the notorious gang has instilled fear in the residents who are no longer feeling secure.

The MCA said that street lights should be installed in the market in the area, as the criminals are taking advantage of the darkness to carry out their attacks.

On Sunday night, a gang raided one of the bars in the area but residents foiled the robbery attempt, chased the criminals away before setting their vehicle on fire.

This comes after two women were on Tuesday, last week, murdered after armed robbers broke into a club and made away with an unknown amount of money.

Three suspects were arrested on Friday in connection with the murder and theft.

However, two more attacks were reported in the area after the arrest of the three suspects.
