ODM leader Raila Odinga insists that Deputy President William Ruto was not aware of his peace deal with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
While appearing on NTV during an explosive interview, Ruto insisted that he was aware of the details despite the president's decision to invite him to Harambee House to unveil the deal.
"A lot of stories have been peddled around as to whether William Ruto was aware of the handshake. On this one, Uhuru consulted me despite Raila's position," he asserted.
Reports emerged that the handshake caught the DP in surprise and has since waged an internal rebellion as a retaliation.
But in Kitui on Tuesday, Raila disclosed behind-scene phone calls that sealed Ruto and Kalonzo Musyoka's fate in the talks.
"I gave my demands to Uhuru and he accepted that I will meet him alone. He also insisted that NASA principals are also excluded.
"President Uhuru asked me to leave out Musyoka from the talks and I demanded he too leaves Ruto out and we all agreed," revealed Raila.
The 2022 presidential elections played a major role in excluding the two leades because they would be aspirants by then.
Prior to the handshake, handlers of Uhuru had advised him to arrest Raila who had taken oath as 'people's president'
