The outspoken politician went to claim that the flamboyant governor was working more than President Uhuru Kenyatta and promised to rally behind a Sonko presidential bid, leaving the governor flattered.

Mpuru showered his praises when he saw the governor as he was driving and decided to pull over.

He had one plea to make to the governor; that he doesn't forget him when he ascends to the presidency.

"If you go up, let's go together. As a leader of the people of Meru, I am behind you. I saw you yesterday fighting for the poor. So, governor, we have confidence in you. Whether they like it or not, it's you. Uhuru should understand that the work you are doing is more than what he is doing, " Mpuru said.

Mpuru was a staunch ally of veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga but the two fell out when the former MP decided to support Jubilee.

He called on politicians to work like Sonko and avoid the Tangatanga and Kieleweke business.

Sonko was doing an inspection along one of the roads of Nairobi County when he ran into Mpuru Aburi.
