The group consisting of leaders from Nyeri county is operating under the tag 'The Kenya We Want' and has taken it upon itself to help the DP realise his dream.

The group led by former Nyeri Mayor George Miatu and Music Community Leader Uledi Madjid has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to keep his initial vow to back the DP in 2022.

The leaders have also hit out at area leaders who have been peddling claims that Uhuru will not support Ruto, adding that residents are fully behind Ruto's bid.

“We have been looking at the political situation in the country and wondering what are our leaders up to. They all know what the President has been saying about leadership after he exits the stage and yet they have been advocating otherwise. Let them know that most citizens and grassroots leaders are not with them,” said Miatu as quoted by the People Daily.

This comes at a time when another team dubbed 'Tangatanga' has been on the front line in drumming up support for the bid despite calls from Kenyatta for them to quit politicking.

On Sunday, Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu vowed to campaign for the DP, arguing that he is the best candidate to take over from Kenyatta.

"We have decided that we are going to be with the son of the poor. We will support him and make sure he leads the country in 2022," said Waititu.

Another group led by former Gatanga lawmaker David Murathe has however declared war on the ambition, vowing to fight it by all possible means.
