Eldoret, its capital, which is popularly known as the City of Champions, on Sunday turned into happiness and celebrations as Eluid Kipchoge one of best athlete stunned the world smashing the marathon record in Berlin.
This has become culture of the town of champions. The athletes bring pride to Uasin Gishu County and the entire country. The county has become famous thanks to the athletes.
Kipchoge's family which included his wife and children joined hundreds of his supporters who followed his blistering run live on a huge screen erected in Eldoret before moving to Kleaque Hotel along Nairobi-Eldoret road for an awards ceremony.
The wife of Eliud received a brand new ISUZU D-max on behalf of her husband just an hour after making the headlines with a new world record.
The award that Eluid Kipchoge received is part of a deal the 'Marathon superman' landed with the car dealer early September when he renewed his partnership as the Isuzu D-max brand ambassador for another two years.
He will also receive Sh20 million bounty from Isuzu East Africa with the company's managing director Rita Kavashe stating that Kipchoge had seen the company realize success.
"Through his world-class performances, he has demonstrated remarkable strength, resilience and reliability in the races he has participated in," said Kavashe during the presentation of the price.
