A public inquest seeking to establish the killers of baby Samantha Pendo will continue on March 09, 2018 at the Kisumu Magistrate’s Court.

Magistrate Beryl Amollo issued the date after Friday’s hearing where neighbors to the late child’s parents testified in court.

Fredrick Ochieng, Gaudesia Atieno and Moris Abanja told the court of how people believed to be General Service Unit (GSU) officers broke into their houses in Kisumu’s Nyalenda Estate in an effort to quell chaos, that had erupted after president Uhuru Kenyatta had been announced the winner of the Presidential election in August 2017.

Baby Pendo died on August 15 while undergoing treatment at the Aga Khan hospital in Kisumu, after allegedly being hit on the head by a police baton.

The inquest officially started on Monday this week with the late baby’s parents being the first ones to take to the witness stand.

 Her mother, Lencer Achieng severally broke down in tears as she testified in court.                                            

She told the court of how people charged with the responsibility of ensuring security, reportedly took away the life of her young daughter.

The prosecution has lined up more than 21 witnesses in the case.
