Central Bank of Kenya Governor Patrick Njoroge has scooped an award for his work at the heart of Kenya's money industry.

Njoroge has been marked as the Central Banker of the Year, Africa by Financial Times group.

This was announced on Monday by the group through its The Banker Magazine.

"...he has improved supervision and guidance measures and spearhead efforts to position Kenya as a hub for green finance," it said.

It added: "The governor’s prudence and long-term vision for Kenya’s economy and banking sector ensured that he scooped the Central Bank Governor of the Year award for Africa."

The award celebrates figures who have best managed to stimulate growth and stabilise their economy.

Back in 2015, Njoroge left Kenyans enthralled after his bachelorhood life was thrust to the public during a vetting session by MPs.

In a country where people are cultured to start families and make wealth, it was a stir that at 54, with good salary and education, the man was still single and with zero assets.

But in 2016, during an interview with the Eastafrican, Njoroge was equally shocked, but on something else.

“Having spent close to 20 years dealing with economic issues, I was taken aback that the population was more interested in my personal life,” he said
