A group of marijuana addicts in Nyamira now wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to substitute them for Miguna Miguna in Canada after the lawyer continues to languish in exile.

For months now, the outspoken lawyer has remained in Canada after the government deported him on claims that he lacks citizenship documents.

But moments after sensational legalisation of the crop by Canadian Senate, some users took on social media forums to push for legalisation of the crop.

"It is of no essence to continue punishing a genuine citizen. The president should now facilitate some of us to Canada," said Erick Ogara.

Pius Makana added on Nyamira Politics WhatsApp: "As a bhang user, I am ready to be exiled in Canada to have Miguna Miguna back home. I don't see any crime he committed."

On Wednesday, the Canadian Senate passed law to have locals grow, distribute and consume marijuana with 52 legislators voting in favour while 29 rejecting.

In 2016, former Nyamira Senator Okong'o Mong'are introduced a similar motion but it was rejected on ground that it lacked merit.
