[Photo/Dulton Waweru/Courtesy]Bibirioni Ward residents in Limuru sub-county have raised concerns about the delayed completion of Limuru-Ngarariga-Kihingo road which has been under construction for close to five years now.The road was rehabilitated in July 2014 under former Governor William Kabogo. This was after 16 years of neglect that made residents have a difficult time transporting farm produce from their farms to the market. Millions of shillings went into the project which has now stalled.Lucy Wanjiku, who sells farm produce at Limuru market said she was first optimistic when the repair of the road started, as she would have an easier time transporting her bananas and potatoes to the market.“Matatus stopped using this road years ago because of the many potholes that it had. In 2014 I looked forward to matatus starting to ply this route again so I can use less time to and from the market. Now my hopes are dashed ” said Wanjiku on Tuesday.Dulton Waweru, a resident, called on the Kiambu roads CEC John Mugwe to 'pay attention' to the road till it is complete."It has been a struggle since the beginning of the construction of this road. Residents need justice, and it is unfortunate that Kiambu roads CEC comes from this area but doesn't seem to pay any attention to this bad road," said Waweru.Essie Kimani, who sells clothes in Limuru Town said: "We must join hands and make our voices heard. People residing around this area struggle to get to Limuru town. Even school going children are suffering."Christine Wamucii wondered where area MCA, Jackline Nungari had gone since she was elected on August 8, 2017 saying she had promised to prioritize the completion of the road.Neither the contractor nor the Kiambu county government officials were available for comment when we went to press with this story.
