Controversial televangelist Gilbert Deya has suffered a major blow
This is after the High Court stopped his release from Kamiti Maximum Prison.
Justice Luka Kimaru declined to release Deya after the Director of Public Prosecution objected his release.
Deya, who was deported to Kenya from the United Kingdom is facing child theft charges.
He was expected to be released on Tuesday.
Through lawyer Nicholas Mutuku and Victor Mulei, the DPP sought orders for the cancellation.
In their application, the prosecution says the chief magistrate's decision to release the accused on bond were unjustified.
Deya's lawyer John Swaka objected the move to have his client's bond cancelled, saying it is frivolous and amounts to abuse of court process.
