Maangi said critics should give Matiang’i a break as he works around the clock to bring down dubious dealings involving cartels in the Jubilee government.

“Matiang’i has been working around the clock to ensure no illicit trade and other illegal dealings are taking place in this country. It is time critics should consider joining hands with Matiang’i to bring down cartels,” he said.

The Deputy Governor reiterated that contraband sugar among other fake products must not be sold to Kenyans.

He slammed some politicians who are out to spread propaganda that Matiang’i will be assassinated by cartels for fighting them.

“The claims that cartels may plot to assassinate Matiang’i for bringing down their illegal businesses and dealings are misleading and meant to scare Matiang’i. No cartel is going to succeed in assassinating Matiang’i because he is protected by the blood of Jesus,” said Maangi.

Maangi was speaking on Thursday when he attended a burial ceremony in Bogiakumu ward, Bonchari Sub County.

A Kisii based politician, Rachael Otundo commended Matiang'i's efforts in fighting illicit trade.

"No turning back on cartels engaging in dubious businesses. Matiang'i has our support and he should not be afraid. Assassination claims are only meant to scare him to allow cartels go on with fake businesses," she said.
