Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has expressed satisfaction after the High Court of Malindi upheld his victory on Wednesday.
Below is his message following the win.
"I wish to start by thanking Almighty God for His grace that not only saw the High Court of Malindi uphold my victory following the August 8, 2017 general election, but also ensured that the will of the people of Kilifi County prevailed today.
I also wish to thank my friend and Brother, my Deputy Governor Eng. Gideon Saburi for his unwavering support and reassurance as we went through this process. I share with you a vision of putting Kilifi and its people first and uplift the well-being of the Kilifi electorate.
I thank my family; my wife, my parents, my children and the larger family for always being my pillar of strength with their persistent prayers, emotional and moral support.
I acknowledge my exceptional legal team who put in unbelievable effort, worked tirelessly over long hours to systematically uncover the false allegations leveled against my victory. I am deeply touched by your goodwill, your intelligence, vigilance, honesty and competence.
I pay tribute to all religious leaders from all faiths and all parts of the county for their earnest and unrelenting prayers and support. Your sacrifice and labor of love caused the case to be determined on the basis of truth and justice.
God always answers prayers; God always is faithful.
Most importantly, I want to thank the people of Kilifi County for believing in our victory against all odds, intimidations and incitements. Your support throughout this period is deeply appreciated. Together, we kept the faith and ashamed the devil.
Let us now forget about our political differences and focus on our transformation journey. I believe that those who voted for me chose the better vision. This, however, does not undermine the aspirations of those who did not vote for me.
As the democratically elected Governor of Kilifi County, I have a firm conviction that our policies will drive economic growth and empower our people by putting in place the necessary infrastructure and create an enabling environment for investments that will be felt for generations.
Let us now join hands and channel all our energy towards fulfilling our pre-election pledges and remain committed to the transformation of our people’s lives.
