This is according to Deputy President William Ruto who was speaking at St Paul's Nyabururu Teachers Training college.

The DP said that the government was committed to ensure that residents who are suffering from cancer access proper medical care.

"We are planning to put up a cancer centre at the Kisii hospital and the construction will kick off in November this year and it is President Uhuru Kenyatta who will launch that," he said.

Mr Ruto said that cancer patients will not have to go all the way to Nairobi to seek treatment as the new centre will be having modern machines.

"All the patients will be treated at the cancer center and it will help save thousands that they have been using to travel to Nairobi," he said.

He said the government in collaboration with Kisii County will also ensure that doctors working at the facility are highly trained.
