Father Paul Ogalo of the Rapogi Parish had tried to use a new form of gospel presentation to reach out to the people, including rap music and drama.

However, he has been since suspended after the Catholic Church leadership declared both his rapping and his mode of dressing while giving his rapping summons a disgrace to the church.

Confirming the one year suspension, Homa Bay Catholic Diocese head Bishop Philip Anyolo declared the father's conduct contrary to the church's liturgical formation.

However, he said that the suspension has not taken away Ogalo's ministerial position and responsibilities and he will keep being a priest.

"He is suspended from doing liturgical duties in public but he remains a Catholic priest." Bishop Anyolo was quoted by the Standard.

This means that the 45 year old priest cannot do among others, administer the holy communion.

In an international publication, Catholic Herald, released on Saturday reporting the suspension, Fr Ogalo has been given the 12 month window to 'reconsider his ways'.
