He said the gesture is healthy for the country to move forward after last year's acrimonious general election.

Speaking at IEBC offices in Nakuru town on his tour of IEBC offices across the country to enhance capacity of the officers, Chebukati said that such closing of ranks by leaders is critical.

"Personally and on behave of the commission I want to say that the move is welcome and it is high time for the leaders to forego egos so that they can realize the necessity of serving the good people of Kenya," he said.

On boundaries review, Chebukati cleared the air on claims that the commission may increase electoral units stressing that the commission is strictly working on the constitutionally recognized numbers of electoral units.

He further reiterated the vindication of the commission in the last year's general election saying that the outcomes of the petitions has proved that they did their work above board and are prepared to conduct any by-elections should the various appeals lodged int he courts fails.
