Ayuma said men should push their wives to apply for the theirvital documents to use them especially when processing birth certificates.

"Since the application of birth certificates started several women have turned up in my office demanding for official letters so that they can have the birth certificates processed. I am appealing to married women to apply for IDs to avoid last minute rush," he said.

He said the process of acquiring an identity card is free and those without the document should make plans to have one.

"It is a big shame a woman married for over 10 years has no identity card. Public barazas will be held to sensitize residents who have attained the age of 18 years to ensure they acquire the IDs," he noted.

Ayuma was speaking on Monday in his office at Bigogo area.
