The news came after another church in Thika banned the same song.

The song, Geithia Mundu na umwire ni umwendete, (Greet someone and tell them you love them), has been a popular beat among churches.

Members are asked to turn to their neighbours greet them, and tell them that they love them.

Members hug each other as they jovially sing the song.

Church leaders felt that it was 'wrong' for married women and men to hug, greet and tell other people, other than their partners, that they love them.

“We have some young members who are lustful. One man who married recently complained to church leaders that there is a member who is always next to his newlywed wife. When singing the song, he does it suggestively to the other man’s wife. We decided to ban it altogether,” a church leader was heard saying outside the church after the service.
