This comes just a month after Mr Musyoka met other leaders from the region who said that he was the best suited for the job.

However, days later this was strongly opposed by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua who said that he was not invited.

"The leaders did not speak about development but they only talked about their self-interests. We shall organise a similar meeting that will focus on how we shall improve the economy of the region," said Bishop Arthur Kitonga.

Mr Kitonga who is also the head of Evangelical churches in the region said that he would converge a similar meeting that will see them discuss about the future of the region.

He argued that the only way people in the region will gain is by working with the National Government.
