Led by Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa, the leaders banked on the unity for development in both the Coast region and the entire nation.

Addressing the press at the Orange House in Nairobi on Tuesday, after the completion of Orange Democratic Party (ODM) Parliamentary Group meeting that was presided over by Odinga, who doubles as the party leader, the leaders further hailed the move, terming it as a good initiative for a better and more united nation.

''The move by the two leaders is laudable and promising and we would like to congratulate them for the making it,'' said Jumwa.

''With the unity in place, we look forward to a more united, developed and improved Kenya,'' she added.

The re-union is, however, facing an opposition from the remaining National Super Alliance (NASA) member parties which have disapproved Odinga's meeting and agreement with President Kenyatta on Friday, claiming that they were not consulted despite being coalition insiders.

Amani National Congress (ANC), Wiper Democratic Party (WDM) and Ford Kenya parties have remained hesitant to give it a nod.
