Kenya National Highways Authority has said that plans to construct the dual carriageway along the Sobea-Mau Summit segment along Nakuru-Eldoret Highway are on course.

According KeNHA public relations officer Charles Njogu, the construction of the carriageway will start in April.

“We already have a contractor who will work on the road. Once the carriageway will be complete, frequent accidents along the busy highway will be a past tense,” he said.

Njogu added that the project will involve the expansion of the notorious stretch among other measures to curb accidents caused due to the narrow road.

“Drivers will have no excuses to cause accidents because the road will be wide enough unlike now when it is too narrow. Construction of the carriageway will expend the road to accommodate trailers, trucks and PSVs,” he stated.
